| Two of us here at Runn AMC are looking to start offering another service in addition to regular short film and commercial work and our MadeByDetroit Podcasting Network. We're looking at getting into videography. Yes, videography. That realm of the filmmaking world most look down on as the filmmaking equivalent of working fast food. Dull, unfulfilling, simple work you do just to pay the bills. That's a general perception that we'd like to change. We've got some ideas on how to sort of shake up videography, particularly wedding videography and photography. I won't describe the details of what we want to do because, quite frankly, we think we've got some good ideas and if we explain them here then anyone can just start implementing them and we'll miss our own train. However, I can personally say I've never seen any wedding videos done like we have in mind. First though we need some couples who are planning to get married and are interested in a unique and hopefully refreshing wedding video to show off after the big day. Yes, I realize most folks don't "show off" their wedding video. They just watch it once or twice with family and friends that couldn't attend and then it sits on the back of a shelf until the end of time or divorce depending on the couple. That's one of those things we'd like to change. Anyways, as I was saying we're looking for 2 or 3 couples who are getting married and are interested in having us do a unique video for them. Since we're just getting started, we're offering to do it for $100. That's a complete deal, from the day we meet you to the day we hand over the final video, everything, for only $100. And I know I said we're looking to get started but we've got experience under our belts already. I've done a couple of wedding videos for friends and family already so I know what the basic deal is and what most folks are settling for. But as I've said, we've got something new. So if this is of any interest to you, or you've got someone else in mind that may be interested, then get ahold of us! You can contact us here, or e-mail me personally at mrpesadilla@yahoo.com I'll happily discuss with you what we have in mind in a non-public forum or meet with you personally to chat it over. I should note that due to financial restrictions, this offer is limited to folks living in or near South-Eastern Michigan. Also, I have no samples of previous wedding work online but can provide dvd copies on demand and would bring such samples to any meetings. So, in short, contact us for a $100 wedding video like no other! |

Filmmaker's Networking Event Co-Hosted by Us!
| Alright all you indie Michigan filmmaker's, come on down to Royal Oak on Dec. 10th for the first filmmaker's networking event sponsored by us, Silver Bullet Pictures and the i3 Group! The event will be on Dec. 10th from 7pm to 9pm at the i3 Group's head quarters in Royal Oak. It's our first time doing an event so it'll be pretty laid back and simple. Just a buunch of filmmaker's hanging out, talking shop and hopefully making new contacts. We're aiming this specifically at those notoriously lone wolf types that are considered DIY filmmakers since they tend to be the most creative but the worst at making contacts (like us!). But everyone is welcome! Even folks with no experience and looking to get some. Also, bring a dvd of your most recent short or trailer of your upcoming feature or your demo reels cause we'll have a projector set up to play whatever throughout the evening. And of course, don't forget business cards and resumes if you've got 'em! It should be a fun and productive time and there will be free refreshments! So, come hang out with us! Follow the link below for the specific address and be there Dec. 10th! http://www.eventbrite.com/event/496849089 |

Some Hot Links For Your Day!
As mentioned in the last blog, I did a brief interview with Mad World Radio at the Fan-O-Rama Comic Con this past weekend. Well the entire recording from that day, including interviews from lots of other great local creators and some kick-ass music can all be found here: http://phoneticbells.com/madworld/~season4/show11.php Additionally, Mad World Radio's host, Odd (his name not a description though it works that way too), writes a page for the site I Heart Chaos and recently mentioned Suburban Heroes there as well, which can be seen here: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fiheartchaos.com%2Fcontent%2Fsuburban-heroes-odds-oddities&h=e18750ffb90086226ac449bbb18ebc9a If that isn't enough, I've been informed that tonight at 9pm Mad World Radio will be podcasting live from their site at www.madworldradio.com as they do every Friday. Tonight they'll actually have some Suburban Heroes references in their Comic Segment and possibly their film critic may have a review of our Season One dvd!! So be sure to get online at 9pm Eastern time to check that out. And then on Dec. 11th, visit the same site at that time to hear some of us from the Runn AMC crew doing a live interview! So be sure to frequent the sites of our friends at Mad World Radio and I Heart Chaos! Also, don't forget on Sunday, Nov. 22nd Suburban Heroes Ep. 204 will be playing at the Tromadance New Mexico Film Festival! So if you're in the New Mexico area, go check that out! Info can be found at www.burningparadise.net So that's that for now. Sincerely, Terence |

Fan-O-Rama and Fantasticon Wrap-Ups!
| The big weekend has now passed. For those unaware, this past weekend we appeared at not one but two (!) first time comic cons. On Saturday it was Fan-O-Rama which was put on by the Crofoot and Comic City and was sponsored by Real Detroit Weekly. The Crofoot is a concert venue in downtown Pontiac that occassionally dips it's toes into hosting some non-concert events and it's a really great place to do just about anything. To prove that point that did just about everything at this one day con! There was a fashion show, film screenings, a panel discussion and a live band performance! Plus the obvious vendors for folks to visit. I spent most of this con running back and forth chatting with folks, tracking down organizers with questions, doing an interview with Mad World Radio (check them out at www.madworldradio.com !) and getting forced onto the stage briefly to introduce Suburban Heroes Ep. 204 which played in along with several other short films (including the visually impressive student film, Avabot). Andy Yeomans and my wife joined me at this con and did most of the table watching. We also had a great time chit-chatting with Tom R. who does all of our SH artwork (dvd cover, t-shirt and button designs). This was the first time he's been able to make it out to join us at one of our appearances and hopefully he can make it to some more in the future. We also caught up with regular convention buddies like Waterfordian indie horror filmmaker Ryan Meade, small press publishers extraordinaires, The Hamtramck Idea Men and Chiller Drive-In creator and host Mac Kelly, who also mc-ed the event. Also at the very end of the day Taryn "The Sock Puppet Master" came by to say "Hi". You can find info on her sock puppet-centric short films at www.atasteforcottonfilms.com so go do that. Overall we had a good time and got to hang out with some cool people. Thanks to all the folks that stopped by our table to chat with us and/or bought our Season 1 dvd! Sunday was Fantasticon at the Emerald Theatre in Mt. Clemens and I was blown away by the venue! If you've never been there check out our Convention Photos page on here for some pics I took there though they don't do it any justice. It's another venue which normally plays host to concerts but has on previous occassions hosted other events, including other comic cons so they had the routine down. While they didn't have a plethora of additional goings on like at Fan-O-Rama, they did keep things very much in the comic/sci-fi spirit with hourly Star Wars trivia contests and classic cartoon theme songs playing over the PA along with Godzilla flicks on the 2 large screens over the stage. I ran the table on my own at this one so I didn't get to do nearly as much running around but I still took some breaks to wander the aisles. I got to talk with Mac Kelly and the Hamtramck Idea Men again in addition to chatting up Matt Busch for a bit and a brief conversation with Gary Scott Beatty. Again, thanks to all who stopped by the table to ask about SH and grab one of our flyers or buttons! Before I go, a brief reminder to anyone in the New Mexico area, Suburban Heroes Episode 204 will be playing at the Tromadance New Mexico Film Festival this month! It'll be in Shorts Block D which plays on Sunday the weekend of the fest so go check it out and if you do, let us know because we won't get to be there and are always curious to know how our screenings go. Until next time, Terence |
